If you
have a heavily used septic system
your tank may require more frequent pumping. It is much cheaper to maintain
your septic system than it is to repair or replace it due to poor maintenance.
Before
you call us it is recommended that you know the size of your tank and where it is
located. If you are unsure of the location you may contact your local
health department. They will likely have a map of your system and additional
information that will be useful.
Where Is Your Septic Tank?
If your tank covers are buried you should uncover them prior to any company coming out to service your system. Be sure to have both covers accessible for pumping.
All conventional septic systems have a septic tank, which is usually a large buried rectangular or cylindrical container made of concrete, fiberglass or polyethylene. Wastewater from all plumbing fixtures drains into the septic tank. Heavy solids settle to the bottom where bacterial action produces digested sludge and gases. Lighter solids that float such as grease, oils and fats, rise to the top and form a scum layer.
